EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire
music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances
the week beginning Monday, April 26. All events are free and open to the public.
Monday, April 26:
- Junior Kristin Bar, Stoughton, and senior Nancy Coddington,
Phillips, will present a joint clarinet recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Concert
Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The students will perform works by Carl
Stamitz, Goerges Marty, Michael Garson, Carl Maria von Weber and Reynaldo
Hahn. Judy Lies and sophomore Elizabeth Wilson, Plymouth, Minn., will provide
piano accompaniment.
Tuesday, April 27:
- James Yardley, a senior from Duluth, Minn., will present
a trombone recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts
Center. Yardly will open with “Spain” by David Fetter and continue
with works by Eugene Bozza, Robert Spillman and Kai Winding. Senior Kristin
Yost, Sisseton, S.D., will provide piano accompaniment; seniors Colin Gilliland,
Fond du Lac, Scott Currier, Eau Claire, and David Whitman, Menomonie, will
assist on trombone, piano and drums; and junior Jeremy Boettcher, Eau Claire,
will assist on bass.
Wednesday, April 28:
- Freshmen John DeHaven, Verona, and Keith Karns, North
Pole, Ala., will present a joint trumpet recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital
Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The students will perform works by Hummel,
Bernstein, Bach, Kennan and Bozza. Senior Kristin Yost, Sisseton, S.D., will
provide piano accompaniment.
- The UW-Eau Claire Percussion Ensemble, directed by Dr.
Jeffrey Crowell, assistant professor of music, will present a recital at 7:30
p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The recital will
open with “Nebojsa Suite” by Nebojsa Zivkovic and continue with
works by John Cage, Peter Gabriel, Rich Holly and Lynn Glassock.
Thursday, April 29:
- Senior Joseph Hartson, Oconomowoc, will present a
senior trombone recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine
Arts Center. Hartson will open with Sonatina for trombone and piano by Kazimeriez
Serocki and continue with works by Fritz Kreisler, Stjepan Sulek, J.J. Johnson
and Jerome Kern. Senior Kristin Yost, Sisseton, S.D., will provide piano accompaniment;
seniors Scott Currier, Eau Claire, and David Whitman, Menomonie, will assist
on piano and drums; and sophomore Kevin Rowe, Oconomowoc, will assist on bass.
- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble IV
will give a concert at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine
Arts Center. The ensemble will feature works by Dave Brubeck, Sammy Nestico,
Wycliffe Gordon, Andrew Neesley, Tito Puente and Charlie Parker.
