EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Jazz II Ensemble, under the direction of Robert Baca, associate professor of music, will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The first half of the performance will feature four compositions — “A Gentle Fall” by Brent Wallarab, “Leilani’s Mirror” by Geoff Keezer, “I Hadn’t Anyone Till You” by Ray Noble and “Mueva Los Huesos” (Shake Your Bones) by Gordon Goodwin.
The second half of the concert will be a tribute to Benny Goodman. It will feature songs like “Lets Dance,” “Sing, Sing, Sing,” and Leonard Bernstein’s “Prelude Fugue and Riffs” and performances by Baca, selected ensemble members and guest soloist Brian Grivna.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $3.75 for the general public; $2.75 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and free for students with a university ID.
