To Feature Wide Variety of Research

 MAILED:  April 15, 2004

EAU CLAIRE — Education and social work students at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will share results of their diversity research projects during the 10th Bi-Annual Human Diversity Expo on Thursday, April 29.

The Expo, which will run from 4 to 5:15 p.m. in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center, will feature projects designed by 150 students currently enrolled in “Social Foundations of Human Relations” courses, taught by Dr. Cynthia Gray-Mash and Dr. Darlene Fry, and the “Ethnic-sensitive Social Work Practice” course taught by Dr. La Vonne Cornell-Swanson. The event has been held each semester since the fall of 1998.

Examples of research projects to be displayed include:

This semester the expo has exciting new features. Projects from students who completed their FED 385 requirements while actively involved for a week in the Jenner Academy of the Arts, an urban Chicago school, also will be displayed at the expo. In addition, video documentaries that were part of five group projects will be shown as a result of a visual ethnographic emphasis in one section of FED 385.

The event is free and open to the public. For additional information, contact Cynthia Gray-Mash at (715) 836-5587, Darlene Fry at (715) 836-4537 or La Vonne Cornell-Swanson at (715) 836-3580.
