UW-Eau Claire Concert Choir
To Perform April 18

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Concert Choir will presents its annual spring concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 18, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The choir, conducted by Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff, associate professor of music and theater arts, will perform a variety of pieces with universal audience appeal.

The concert will have four parts. The first part of the concert will begin with “Gloria” by John Ness Beck, “Psalm 96” by Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, “Os Justi Meditabitur Sapientiam” by Anton Bruckner, “Search Me and Know My Heart” by James Fritschel and “Praise to the Lord” by F. Melius Christiansen.

The second part of the concert will include “I Sing as I Arise Today” and “Canticle of Invocation,” both by Fritschel; “Lux Aeterna” by Edwin Fissinger; “If Ye Love Me” by Phillip Lawson; and “I Thank You God for This Most Amazing Day” by Eric Witacre.

After a brief intermission, part three of the concert will include the following pieces to be performed by the a capella group Impromptu: “Sweet Surrender,” arranged by Janine Brinkman; “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” arranged by Mark Lundin; and “Worlds Apart,” arranged by Noah Haas and Dave Fehr.

Part four of the concert will conclude with two African-American folk songs, “Wondrous Love” and “My God Isis a Rock,” both by Alice Parker and Robert Shaw; “Hymn to the Fallen” by John Williams and Tom Anderson; and “Hold On!” arranged by Moses Hogan.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $4.75 for the general public; $3.75 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.25 for students with a university ID.

The Concert Choir also will be performing on a European tour to Spain and France from May 26 through June 9.
