EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire
music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances
the week beginning Monday, April 19. All events are free and open to the public.
Monday, April 19:
- Senior David Snyder, La Crosse, will present a cello recital
at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Snyder will
open with Allegro Appassionato, Op. 43 by Camille Saint-Saëns and continue
with works by Arcangelo Corelli, Antonio Vivaldi and Ludwig van Beethoven.
Ryan Koelemay and freshman James Hahn, Rosemount, Minn., will provide piano
accompaniment and senior Sacia Jerome, Barron, will assist on cello.
Tuesday, April 20:
- Seniors Aurora Conde, Eau Claire, and Adam Krajnik, Mishicot,
will present a joint soprano and tenor voice recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips
Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The students will perform songs
by many composers, including Giuseppe Giordani, George Frideric Handel, Alessandro
Scarlatti, Johannes Brahms, Gabriel Fauré, Ralph Vaughan Williams,
Aaron Copland and more. Senior Jenifer Schwartzhoff, Eau Claire, will provide
piano accompaniment.
Wednesday, April 21:
- Sophomore Breta Borstad, Cameron, will present a
flute recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Borstad will open with Sonata in G by Mozart and continue with works by Georges
Hüe, Alan Hovhaness and Paul Hindemith. Sophomore Liz Wilson, Plymouth,
Minn., will provide piano accompaniment.
- Senior Rosalie Johnson, Eau Claire, will present a senior
violin recital at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts
Center. She will open the performance with Partita No. 3 in E major by J.S.
Bach and continue with works by Felix Mendelssohn, Maurice Ravel, Fritz Kreisler,
Edward Elgar, Henri Weiniawski and Max Bruch. Anne Kubiatowicz, Eau Claire,
will provide piano accompaniment.
Thursday, April 22:
- The Gamma Beta Chapter of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia
will present “An American Recital” at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital
Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The recital will feature fraternity members
and compositions by American composers, including Francis Scott Key, Leonard
Bernstein, John Adams, Norman Bolter, John Verall, Richard Cumming and Dr.
Michael Cunningham, professor of music at UW-Eau Claire.
- Senior Zachary May, Janesville, will present a senior percussion
recital at 5 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Performing Arts Center.
May will feature works by Mark Ford, Julie Spencer, George Hamilton Green,
and Billy Joel. He also will perform two of his own compositions, “Pesedillia
con Salsa” and “Groovin’.”
- The Cane Mutiny Bassoon Ensemble, under the direction of
Dr. Kristine Fletcher, senior lecturer of music, will present a recital at
7:30 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The performance
will feature different bassoon quartets and duets composed by Arthur Frackenpohl,
Christopher Weait, Victor Bruns, Francisco Mignone and others.
