UW-Eau Claire Announces
Cast and Crew for ‘Vanities’

 MAILED:  April 9, 2004

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present Jack Heifner’s “Vanities” at 7:30 p.m. April 15-18 and 20-24 in the Riverside Theatre of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

Vanities is a funny, sad, true depiction of an innocent America coming of age, as seen through the lives of three Texas girls from the early Sixties to the mid Seventies. As aggressively vivacious high school cheerleaders, college sorority sisters and cynical, disenchanted adults, the girls in Vanities ultimately discover that you can’t go home again. Side splittingly funny at times, razor-sharp in its depiction of an era, the play’s slickly drawn dialogue perfectly captures the spirit of American women.

Junior Jennifer Aldridge, Eau Claire, will play Joanne; Sara J. Danke, a senior from Wales, will act as Kathy; and senior Elizabeth Hoffert, Weston, will play Mary. Alumna Kelly Kriesel, who graduated in December 2003, returned to the university to direct the play, and senior Eric Traxler, Boyceville, is the stage manager. Jody Sekas, assistant professor of theatre, is the lighting designer and Luisa Fumagalli, costume studio supervisor, designed all costumes for the play. Senior Yulissa Lin, Chinandega, Nicaragua, designed the sets.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $9 for the general public; $7 for those 62 and older; $6 for children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $5 for students with a university ID.
