Men’s and Women’s Rugby Teams to Compete
And Raise Money for Special Olympics

EAU CLAIRE — There will be a Border Battle Collegiate Rugby Tournament at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Bollinger Fields behind Shopko beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 17.

The event will bring the best collegiate men and women’s rugby teams from Wisconsin and Minnesota together to compete and raise money for Special Olympics. The event will be the largest showcase of collegiate rugby north of Madison, and the championship match should begin at approximately 3 p.m.

Bob Lesniewski, area director of Special Olympics, will be on hand with some athletes to talk about the organization and show support for the UW-Eau Claire club rugby teams.

The event is free and open to the public and refreshments and t-shirts will be sold.

Donations for Special Olympics will be accepted all day and 20 percent of the tournament’s profits from team entrance fees and refreshment sales also will go to Special Olympics.

The event is sponsored by Chippewa Valley Sporting Goods and Saturn of Eau Claire.
