EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire
music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances
the week beginning Monday, April 5. All events are free and open to the public.
Monday, April 5:
- Senior Rebecca Burmesch, Ripon, will present a senior oboe
recital at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The recital will open with “Parable for Solo Oboe” by Vincent
Persichetti and continue with works by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Tomaso Albinoni
and Johann Wenzel Kalliwoda. Beverly Soll will provide piano accompaniment,
and senior Jill Jaeckel, Eau Claire, and junior Kristin Bar, Stoughton, will
assist on oboe and piano.
Tuesday, April 6:
- Soprano Kendra Sampson, a senior from Cottage Grove, Minn.,
will present a senior recital at 5 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas
Fine Arts Center. She will open with “Come All Ye Songsters” from
“The Fairy Queen” by Henry Purcell and continue with songs from
“Les Chansons de Miarka” by Emile Paladilhe and Alexandre Georges,
“Linda di Chamounix” by Gaetano Donizetti and “The Enchantress”
by Victor Herbert. Senior Phillip Dorn, Clintonville, and sophomore Elizabeth
Wilson, Plymouth, Minn., will assist on piano and clarinet.
Wednesday, April 7:
- The flute studio, taught by Dr. Timothy Lane, professor
of music, will present a recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the
Haas Fine Arts Center. All flute students will present solos by their chosen
composers.
- The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Trombone Ensemble
will present a spring recital at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the
Haas Fine Arts Center. The ensemble will feature pieces by Giacomo Puccini,
Fisher Tull, Giovanni Gabrieli, Cesar Franck and Dizzy Gillespie and close
with Largo from “Xerxes” by George Frideric Handel.
Thursday, April 8:
- *Junior Adam Boll, Park Falls, will present a junior trombone
recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. He
will open with Sonata by John Davison and continue with works by Lars-Erik
Larsson and Giaochino Rossini. Boll also will feature his own composition,
“Song for Trombone & Bassoon,” with senior Amy Van Maldegiam,
Slinger, assisting on bassoon. Senior Kristin Yost, Sisseton, S.D., will provide
piano accompaniment.
