EAU CLAIRE — Eight bachelor of fine arts in studio art degree candidates at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will present a senior art exhibition March 30-April 4 in the Foster Gallery of the Haas Fine Arts Center. A reception will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 3, in the Foster Gallery.
Students exhibiting their work are Melissa Burke, Eau
Claire, Jessie Cuellar, Orfordville, Jay Gould, Stillwater, Minn., Dana Johnson,
Washburn, Aimee Rusch, Wauwatosa, Nicole Schultz, Cedarburg, Megan Shanley,
Lindstrom, Minn., and Mike Teuteberg, Green Bay.
The exhibition titled “Would You Like Fries With That?” includes
illustrations in various media, jewelry, ceramics, sculpture, and color and
black and white photographs.
Burke, who is exhibiting photographs and jewelry, said “My artwork is a reflection of my surroundings. As an artist, I try to see the beauty in every aspect of life.”
"I use ordinary objects, like a drinking glass or reflective object and photograph them close-up, creating an abstract image,” Schultz said. “My images show the beauty in the simple things that are normally overlooked.”
Foster Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. on weekdays, 6-8 p.m. Thursdays and 1-4:30 p.m. weekends. For more information about gallery exhibits, call Tom Wagener, (715) 836-2328.
