Competes at UW-Whitewater

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team recently traveled to UW-Whitewater and received third place in the Edna Sorber Invitational Tournament, held Saturday, Feb. 28, and fourth place in the Mid-American Forensics League Tournament #7, held Sunday, Feb. 29.

Following are the specific results for the Edna Sorber Invitational tournament:

Junior Dan Mc Neely, Bloomington, Minn., received second place in program oral interpretation, qualifying him for the American Forensics Association tournament.

Senior Brandon M. Buchanan, San Antonio, Texas, placed second in communication analysis.

Junior Andy Bevernitz, Clintonville, took third place in persuasive speaking.

Sophomore Elizabeth Anne Schroeder, Le Center, Minn., received fourth place in extemporaneous speaking, after-dinner speaking and informative speaking. She also took sixth place in impromptu speaking. Schroeder qualified for the National Forensics Association tournament for after-dinner speaking and impromptu speaking.

Sophomore Bonnie Maczka, Lino Lakes, Minn., along with freshman Amy Oldakowski, Sobieski, received sixth place for duo interpretation.

Following are the specific results for the Mid-American Forensics League tournament:

Bevernitz took second place in persuasive speaking and qualified for the AFA tournament. He also received fifth place in communication analysis.

Oldakowski received second place in the communication analysis competition.

Schroeder placed third in extemporaneous speaking.

Freshman Christine Zani, Hurley, took third place in communication analysis and sixth place in extemporaneous speaking.

Maczka received sixth place in communication analysis.
