Z Magazine Co-founder Michael Albert
To Speak at UW-Eau Claire’s Forum

 MAILED:  March 4, 2004

EAU CLAIRE — Michael Albert, co-founder of Z Magazine — an independent monthly of critical thinking on political, cultural, social, and economic life in the United States — will speak Monday, March 15, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

The Forum will present his presentation, titled “Radical Visions for Radical Change,” at 7:30 p.m. in Zorn Arena.

Michael Albert co-founded Z Magazine and ZNet, its online incarnation, where he writes about economics and economic vision, foreign affairs, media and political strategy. A veteran student and community activist, Albert speaks on current events and the dimensions of class, race, gender and power in contemporary life. Understanding the role of reforms, Albert is also a forthright advocate of transforming basic institutions. He addresses not only problems but explores real solutions.

Albert has written a dozen books including “Stop the Killing Train” and “Looking Forward: Participatory Economics for the Twenty-First Century.”

Admission is $7 for the public, $5 for those 62 and older and UW System or Chippewa Valley Technical College faculty and staff, and $3 for those 17 and younger and UW System or CVTC students. Tickets are available at the University Service Center in Davies Center and will be sold at the door.

Patrons may also charge their tickets to MasterCard or Visa when they order by phone. Call the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 — or, outside the immediate Eau Claire area, call toll-free (800) 949-UWEC. A $3 handling fee will be added to all telephone charge orders.

The Forum is funded by the students of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and administered by the Activities and Programs office of University Centers and Programs.
