Andrea Mitchell Devroy Forum Speaker
 MAILED:  Feb. 27, 2004

Andrea Mitchell will be the featured speaker at UW-Eau Claire’s Devroy Forum April 22. Mitchell’s formal presentation, titled “The 2004 Presidential Campaign: New Challenges for Broadcast News,” will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Zorn Arena.

Details of Mitchell’s visit are being worked out but there will be an opportunity for the local media to meet with her during her visit to campus. We’ll let you know the specifics when the times have been confirmed.

Mitchell is chief foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News, a position she has held since November 1994. She reports on foreign policy issues in the U.S. and abroad for all NBC News broadcasts, including “Nightly News with Tom Brokaw,” “Today” and CNBC and MSNBC.

Throughout 2002 and 2003, Mitchell covered the United Nations debate leading to the Iraq war and reported on questions surrounding pre-war intelligence and weapons of mass destruction.

Mitchell joined NBC News in 1978 as a general correspondent.

A native of New York, Mitchell has a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania. She is married to Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan.

The Ann Devroy Memorial Forum and Devroy Memorial Fund were established to recognize the outstanding journalistic work of the 1970 UW-Eau Claire graduate who died of cancer in 1997.

The fund awards a scholarship and helps defray the cost of a three-week residency at The Washington Post for Devroy winners. Winners also have paid internships at Wisconsin daily newspapers.

Ann Devroy, a Green Bay native, was a White House correspondent for more than 15 years. She covered the Carter, Reagan, Bush and Clinton administrations.
