EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire
music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances
the week beginning Monday, March 8. All events are free and open to the public.
Tuesday, March 9:
- Juniors Kenyon Scheurman, River Falls, and Colin Gilliland,
Fond du Lac, will present a joint trombone recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital
Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The recital will open with Scheurman performing
Sonate for Trombone and Piano by Stjepan Sulek and continue with Gilliland
performing Concert by Launy Grondahl. They will continue with works by Carl
Maria von Weber, Benedetto Marcello and Dan Aldag. Senior Kristin Yost, Sisseton,
S.D., will provide piano accompaniment for the performance.
Thursday, March 11:
- Alexandre Dossin, assistant professor of music, will
present a faculty piano recital at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the
Haas Fine Arts Center. Dossin will open the recital with a Notturno by Ottorino
Respighi, continue with works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Mili Balakirev, Alexander
Scriabin and Peter Tchaikovsky, and close with George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody
in Blue.” This is professor Dossin’s first solo recital since
winning the first and special prizes at the Martha Argerich International
Piano Competition in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and it features the music of
composers from the four countries that have been important in his life: Italy,
Brazil, Russia and the United States.
