UW-Eau Claire’s Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi
Receives National Recognition

 MAILED:  Feb. 24, 2004

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Epsilon Omicron Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in education, recently received the Achieving Chapter Excellence Award at the national Kappa Delta Pi conference in St. Louis.

Former chapter officers and recent graduates Elizabeth Rae Meyer and Ashley Murray, both from Minnetonka, Minn., accepted the award along with Mark Clark, dean of UW-Eau Claire’s College of Professional Studies, on behalf of the UW-Eau Claire chapter.

The two students had created a portfolio that detailed all the work the UW-Eau Claire KDP chapter had done throughout the past two years. The portfolio was submitted to the KDP headquarters and UW-Eau Claire was then chosen as one of the 31 universities from across the nation to receive the ACE Award.

“What’s so amazing is that our chapter at the UW-Eau Claire campus is one of the smallest, yet one of the most active chapters,” Meyer said. “We are thoroughly involved in multiple on- and off-campus events, volunteer experiences and fundraisers. It was a huge honor.”

Meyer and Murray prepared a tri-fold chapter display for the conference that included a picture of the campus and sections describing their chapter. They also prepared a resource guide for other chapters, explaining each project and ideas from the UW-Eau Claire chapter.

Kappa Delta Pi is an International Honor Society in Education that is dedicated to scholarship and excellence in education. The mission of the chapter is to encourage high professional, intellectual, and personal standards; maintain a high degree of professional fellowship among its members; and to quicken professional growth by honoring achievement in educational work.
