‘The Vagina Monologues’ to be Presented
At UW-Eau Claire March 10-12

 MAILED:  Feb. 23, 2004

EAU CLAIRE — Three benefit performances of Eve Ensler’s “The Vagina Monologues,” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. March 10, 11 and 12 in Schofield Auditorium at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Making Our School An Intercultural Community, a UW-Eau Claire Housing and Residence Life diversity task force, is sponsoring the student production in conjunction with V-Day UW-Eau Claire 2004.

Each year MOSAIC holds events to celebrate V-Day, a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. The V-Day College Campaign invites members of college and university communities around the world to present benefit productions of “The Vagina Monologues” to raise money and awareness to help stop the violence. MOSAIC will donate the proceeds of its production to the Bolton Refuge House and The Women of Juarez, Mexico.

“The Vagina Monologues” is a compilation of women’s thoughts, feelings and experiences related to being a woman. The topics of the monologues range from coming of age to instances of sexual assault.

“Eve Ensler is incredibly gifted in taking situations that are difficult to talk about and putting them in not only a digestible format, but an enjoyable one,” said Frances Slezak, producer of “The Vagina Monologues” at UW-Eau Claire. “I would encourage anyone who is interested in women’s history and women’s experiences to attend.”

Admission is $5 with a UW-Eau Claire student ID, $7 with a UW-Eau Claire faculty or staff ID and $10 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727.
