UW-Eau Claire Forensics Team
Places Second in Red Hawk Invitational

EAU CLAIRE —The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team co-hosted the Wisconsin LoveFest Tournament with Ripon College Feb. 14-15 on the UW-Eau Claire campus. The forensics team competed on Sunday and placed second in team sweepstakes, qualifying for the national tournaments in many events.

UW-Eau Claire hosted the Grace Walsh Individual Events Tournament Saturday, and Ripon College hosted the Red Hawk Invitational Sunday.

Following are the individual results from Sunday’s tournament:

Junior Andy Bevernitz, Clintonville, took second in persuasion, qualifying him for the National Forensics Association tournament. Bevernitz also took fourth place in communication analysis.

Junior Amanda Dolan, Greenfield, took second in poetry reading, qualifying her for the American Forensics Association tournament.

Freshman Amy Oldakowski, Sobieski, placed second in informative speaking, qualifying her to participate in the AFA tournament.

Senior Brandon M. Buchanan, San Antonio, Texas, placed third in impromptu speaking, qualifying him for the AFA tournament. Buchanan also placed fifth in communication analysis.

Freshman Christine Zani, Hurley, took third in extemporaneous speaking and sixth in communication analysis.

Sophomore Abby Czeskleba, Middleton, placed third in after-dinner speaking, which qualified her for the NFA tournament.

Sophomore Kenneth Dungar, Oshkosh, took fourth in extemporaneous speaking, qualifying him for the NFA tournament.

The forensics team will next compete at the Wisconsin State Tournament to be held at UW-Stout Feb. 21.
