UW-Eau Claire Announces Cast List
For Challenging Musical ‘Cabaret’

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Music and Theatre Arts Department will present the musical “Cabaret” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, in the Riverside Theatre on the UW-Eau Claire campus. Additional performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Feb. 27-28 and March 2-6 and 1:30 p.m. Feb. 29 and March 7.

The musical is being directed by Richard Nimke, assistant professor of theatre arts.

“Set in pre-World War II Germany, ‘Cabaret,’ is a provocative and challenging musical that deals with mature subject matter,” said Nimke.

Junior Seth Boyd, Burnsville, Minn., will be playing Victor, and junior Abby Berglund, Pine City, Minn., will play Frau Kost/Fritzie. Melissa Jean Briggs, a freshman from Cottage Grove, Minn., will play Frauline Schneider, and Clifford Athorn, a freshman from Minneapolis, Minn., will play Clifford Bradshaw.

Anna Figlesthaler, a senior from Wauwatosa, will act as Texas, and sophomore Michael Evano, Minneapolis, Minn., will play Herman/Rudy. Junior Briana Hardyman, Darlington, will be playing Sally Bowles, and Kelly Holden, a sophomore from Mondovi, will play Frenchie.

Sophomore Aaron Loy, Rosemount, Minn., will be playing Hans, and Amy Jean McFarlane, a senior from Menasha, will play Helga. Stephen Mascitti, a sophomore from Elm Grove, will act as Bobby and the customs official, and sophomore Brian Martin, Green Bay, will be the Emcee.

Terra Stefansky, a senior from Waukesha, will be acting the part of Lulu, and Deborah Selvig, a senior from Eau Claire, will be playing Rosie. Freshman John Stimac, Milwaukee, will play Ernst Ludwig, and Brandon Wipperfurth, a freshman from Lodi, will play Schultz.

Junior Brianna Hotchkiss, Chippewa Falls, is the stage manager and sophomore Ryan Hagen, Eden Prairie, Minn., the assistant stage manager. Brian Hatfield, a senior from Walworth, is the lighting designer for the show, and senior Kelly Mariska, Maple Grove, Minn., is the props designer. Sophomore Ryan Zirngibl, Medford, is the master electrician.

Toni Poll-Sorensen, professor of dance, is the choreographer, and Mitra Sadeghpour, assistant professor of music, is the music director and conductor.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $10 for the general public, $8 for those 62 and older, $7 for children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID, and $6 for students with a university ID.

This production is not intended for young audiences.
