Alternative Communication Conference
To Be Held in Eau Claire March 25-26

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education/UW-Extension and the departments of communication disorders and special education will present the 15th Annual Wisconsin Conference on Augmentative & Alternative Communication and Assistive Technologies March 25-26 at the Plaza Hotel & Suites in Eau Claire.

The conference will run from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 25, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, March 26.

The theme of the conference is “Participation and Communication: Joining in Across the Lifespan.” Keynote speaker Dr. Denise DeCoste will present “Literacy and Language Connections for AAC Communicators.”

The conference is designed for speech-language pathologists, educators, administrators, occupational and physical therapists, rehabilitation engineers, physicians, AAC/assistive technology designers, birth-three specialists, vocational rehabilitation evaluators, assistive technology users and their families, private-care personnel, university instructors/students, nursing home personnel, and others interested in augmentative and alternative communication and assistive technologies. Participants can choose between many breakout sessions.

A pre-conference scheduled for 8:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 25, provides an option for those who seek a three-hour concentrated look at one of the following five topics: Introduction to AAC/AT; Creating Environments for Communication Initiation; Positioning, Motor Access & Visual Considerations in AAC/AT; Visual Support Strategies; Sensory Based Communication Techniques.

Tuition is $65 for the pre-conference; $220 for the pre-conference and full conference; $165 for the pre-conference and March 25 conference; $155 for the full conference;
$100 for the March 25 conference only; $100 for the March 26 conference only; or $643.13 for the full conference and two graduate credits Tuition includes instruction, materials, refreshments, lunch on Friday and CEUs.
