UW-Eau Claire Forensics Team Takes Third
In Twin Cities Forensics League Tournament

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team traveled to Bloomington, Minn., to compete in the Twin Cities Forensics League Tournament #3, hosted by Normandale Community College Jan. 28. Seven UW-Eau Claire students participated and took third as a team.

Following are the individual results:

Senior Brandon M. Buchanan, San Antonio, Texas, placed first in extemporaneous speaking, qualifying him to participate in the American Forensics Association tournament.

Freshman Amy Oldakowski, Sobieski, placed first in informative speaking.

Junior Kelly M. Bender, New London, took second place in program oral interpretation and third in prose interpretation, qualifying her for the AFA tournament.

Junior Amanda Dolan, Greenfield, took third place in poetry interpretation, qualifying her for the AFA tournament. Dolan also took third place in persuasion, which qualified her for the National Forensics Association tournament.

Freshman Christine Zani, Hurley, took fourth place in communication analysis and fifth place in informative speaking.

The UW-Eau Claire forensics’ freshmen team members will travel to St. Cloud on Feb. 7, while the varsity team will stay home to host the 27th Annual UW-Eau Claire Invitational Speech Tournament for high school students.
