EAU CLAIRE — An investigation by University Police has determined that an alleged assault of a University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student was a false report.
On Nov. 5, 2003, a female student reported she was attacked by a man with a knife behind Governors Hall on UW-Eau Claire’s upper campus.
According to Lt. David Sprick, during a subsequent investigation by University Police, 19-year-old Emily Piette admitted she had not been attacked and that she had invented the story.
Piette appeared in Eau Claire County Circuit Court Jan. 29 and entered into a plea agreement.
Piette’s status at UW-Eau Claire currently is under review.
