UW-Eau Claire Forensics Team
Ends Semester on High Note

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team placed first in team sweepstakes at the Twin Cities Forensics League Tournament #3, hosted by Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minn., Tuesday, Dec. 9. Many of the participating students qualified for either the National Forensics Association National Tournament or the American Forensics Association National Tournament.

Following are the individual results:

Senior Brandon Buchanan, Chippewa Falls, placed first in informative speaking, qualifying for AFA, and second in impromptu speaking.

Freshman Amy Oldakowski, Sobieski, took first in persuasive speaking, qualifying for AFA, and fourth in poetry interpretation, qualifying for NFA.

Freshman Michelle Farley, Chippewa Falls, placed first in impromptu speaking, qualifying for NFA.

Junior Mandy Dolan, Greenfield, took second in oral interpretation, qualifying for AFA, and third in informative speaking, qualifying for AFA.

Sophomore Bonnie Maczka, Lino Lakes, Minn., placed second in communication analysis, qualifying for NFA, and sixth in dramatic interpretation.

Sophomore Betsy Schroeder, Le Center, Minn., took second in extemporaneous speaking.

Freshman Gwen Rajski, Madison, placed fifth in prose interpretation, qualifying for NFA.

Freshman Andy Wilkins, Lakeville, Minn., took fifth in poetry interpretation, qualifying for NFA.

The UW-Eau Claire forensics team is finished competing for the fall semester but begins traveling again Jan. 9, 2004. The team is scheduled to compete in five tournaments before the spring semester starts.
