EAU CLAIRE — The new University of Wisconsin Online Gerontology Certificate program is open for spring enrollment. OGC currently offers two certificates: an 18-credit undergraduate program and a non-credit program that may be taken for 10.5 Continuing Education Units. Credit courses are eight weeks in length; non-credit courses are four weeks in length. Because courses are offered over the Internet, students can access them whenever and wherever it’s convenient.
Both programs are designed to meet the professional education needs of anyone who is currently working with older adults, as well as anyone who would like to. The programs are appropriate for anyone with a personal or professional interest in the field of aging, including health care professionals, human service providers, primary caregivers and educators. The following courses are available for the spring 2004 semester:
Undergraduate Credit:
Feb. 2-March 26
Feb. 2-March 26
March 5-May 28
Non-credit CEU:
March 8-April 3
Students can register for these classes directly on the OGC's Web site, by following the directions in the registration section.
The Online Gerontology Certificate program combines the expertise of nine University of Wisconsin campuses: UW-Eau Claire, UW-Green Bay, UW-La Crosse, UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, UW-Parkside, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Stout and UW-Superior. Additional partners are UW-Extension Division of Outreach & E-Learning and the Wisconsin Geriatric Education Center at Marquette University. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration, Bureau of Health Professions.
