UW-Eau Claire Concert Choir
To Present Fall Concert Nov. 16

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff, associate professor of music, will present a fall concert at 2 p.m., Nov.16, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The choir will open the concert with “Cantate Domino” by Jan Pieterzoon Sweelinck; “I Sing as I Arise Today” by James Fritschel; “Be Not Afraid” by Knut Nystedt; and “Why Rage Fiercely the Heathen” by Felix Mendelssohn.

The concert also will feature classics, such as “Danny Boy,” “Little Red Riding Hood,” “Hymn to the Fallen” and “The Battle of Jericho.”

“In preparation for their summer 2004 tour of Spain and France, the Concert Choir will perform works by two Spanish composers — Javier Busto and Pablo Casals. They also will perform John Williams’ ‘Hymn to the Fallen,’ arranged by UW-Eau Claire alumnus Tom Anderson,” said Schwartzhoff, adding that the choir will perform this composition in Caen, France, on June 6, 2004, in a ceremony for the 60th anniversary of D-Day.”

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or (800) 949-UWEC, are $4.75 for the general public; $3.75 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.25 for students with a university ID.
