For Annual Spring Art Trip to New York

 MAILED:  Nov. 5, 2003

EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s department of art & design invites the community to join them on their annual spring trip to New York City.

An information meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov.11, in Room 105 of the Haas Fine Art Center.

The annual trip, scheduled during spring break, will depart from the Haas Fine Arts Center at 6 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2004, and return Sunday, March 28. The trip is an opportunity for students, faculty and community members to explore art, music, theatre and food while roaming through Manhattan and the Boroughs.

The cost of the trip includes round-trip motor coach transportation and seven nights in double or quad rooms at the Wellington Hotel, a modern hotel in the middle of the theater district and just a few blocks from Central Park. Although not a guided tour, there are optional group activities planned for most days, including trips to major museums such as the Museum of Modern Art in its temporary Queens location and the new Dia:Beacon Contemporary Art Center located up the Hudson River.

An unlimited-ride pass (including all boroughs) for 7 days includes all subways and buses for only $17. The per-person ticket price is $500 for students (with UW-Eau Claire I.D.) in quad rooms and $550 for others in quads. Doubles are $750. The deadline for purchasing tickets is 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9.
