EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music
and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances
the week beginning Monday, Nov. 10. All events are free and open to the public.
Monday, Nov. 10:
- Senior Andrei Strizek, Sun Prairie, will present a piano
recital at 5 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Strizek
will open the performance with Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in d minor transcribed
by Dmitri Kabalevsky. He will continue with Sonata No. 11 in B flat Major
by Beethoven; “China Gates” by John Adams; and Impromptu in A
flat Major by Schubert.
- Tenor Justin Lundberg, Eau Claire, and soprano Brynn Llewellyn,
Appleton, will present a joint senior recital at 7:30 p.m. in Phillips Recital
Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Llewellyn will open the recital with Haydn’s
“Mio cara bene!” The two singers will then alternate their performances,
presenting pieces by Charles Ives, Reynaldo Hahn, Franz Schubert, Jake Hegie
and Gian Carlo Menotti. Lundberg will close the concert with Leonard Bernstein’s
“Lonely Town” and “Some Other Time,” with assistance
from UW-Eau Claire alumna Annelies Slack. Beverly Soll and senior Phillip
Dorn, Clintonville, will provide piano accompaniment.
Tuesday, Nov. 11:
- Senior Stacy Kern, North St. Paul, Minn., will give a clarinet
recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Kern
will begin her program with Sonata for Clarinet and Piano by Aaron Copland.
Pieces by Stravinsky, Gordon Jacob, Ivana Loudova, and Giocomo Rossini also
will be featured. Senior Kristin Yost, Sisseton, S.D., will provide piano
accompaniment and senior Linnea Brown, St. Paul, Minn., will assist on viola.
Wednesday, Nov. 12:
- The women of Sigma Alpha Iota, Epsilon Omicron will present
a recital at 7:30 p.m. Students will be performing a variety of pieces, from
a piano etude to a bell choir menuette.
Thursday, Nov. 13:
- Sophomore Krista Hebel, Two Rivers, will present a piano
recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Hebel
will begin the program with Chopin’s Prelude in D-Flat Major, Op 28,
No. 15. She will continue with pieces by Tchaikovsky, Heitor Villa-Lobos,
Schumann and Debussy, closing the program with George Gershwin’s Prelude
No.1: Allegro ben ritmato e deciso.
