EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music
and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances
the week beginning Monday, Nov. 3. All events are free and open to the public.
Tuesday, Nov. 4:
- Senior Branden Atherton, Waukesha, and junior Andrew
Lester, Eau Claire, will present a joint saxophone recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips
Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The recital will feature pieces
by Eugene Bozza, Timothy Broege, Maurice Ravel and others. Lester will perform
“Pleasantries” by Dr. Michael Cunningham, professor of music,
on tenor saxophone. Senior Andrei Strizek, Sun Prairie, will provide accompaniment
for the musicians.
Wednesday, Nov. 5:
- * Senior Maggie Hartzheim, Green Bay, will give a piano
recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Hartzheim
will begin the recital with 32 Variations in C minor by Beethoven, continue
with Nocturne in C# minor, Opus 27, No. 1 by Chopin, and close with Toccata
by Aram Khachaturian.
Thursday, Nov. 6:
- The Piano Studio of Alexandre Dossin will present
a recital at 5 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The students will perform works by Peter Tchaikovsky to honor the 110th anniversary
of his death. Each student will perform a movement or movements from the “Album
for the Young” and “The Seasons.” To introduce the recital,
Dossin will give a short lecture titled “The Piano Music of Peter Tchaikovsky.”
