EAU CLAIRE — Peter Clarke-McLeod, guest lecturer in UW-Eau Claire’s department of social work from Oct. 13 to 24, will present a Brown Bag lunch presentation, “HIV/AIDS in South Africa,” from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, in the Presidents Room, Davies Center.
Clarke-Mcleod is a social worker, attorney and chairperson of the department of social development, Rhodes University, South Africa. In his social work practice, his specializations are probation, family life and mediation. He has right of appearance in the High Court (Supreme Court) of South Africa as an attorney, where he also acts as an expert witness. During his time at UW-Eau Claire, McLeod also will be speaking to social work classes, participating in research activities and meeting with faculty.
Jillian Clarke-McLeod, a qualified nurse and teacher, will be co-presenter for the Brown Bag discussion. As a nurse, Ms. Clarke-McLeod worked with sick and dying children and children in out-of-home care. As a teacher, she has worked in a Montessori School and as an instructor in English in grades 8, 10, and 11. Currently, she works in her husband’s law firm.
