EAU CLAIRE — The Center for Health and Aging Services Excellence at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, along with the University of Wisconsin-Stout and Red Cedar Medical Center in Menomonie, will be holding the second annual Gerontology Lecture Series.
The first session of the series, designed to explore timely topics relating to the field of gerontology with faculty, students, practitioners and consumers, will be held Wednesday, Oct. 22, from noon to 1 p.m. at Dove Healthcare, Nursing and Rehabilitation, 1405 Truax Blvd., Eau Claire.
Dr. Scott Zimmerman, assistant professor of biology at UW-Stout, will explain the role of exercise in muscle structure during aging. He also will dispel the myth that our muscles have to become stiff and weak as we get older by teaching us how the muscle structure changes in response to the stresses of exercise and aging.
For more information, contact Meredith Wolf at wolfm@uwec.edu or (715) 836-3543. The Gerontology Lecture Series is free and open to the public.
