EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music
and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances
the week beginning Monday, Oct. 27. All events are free and open to the public.
Monday, Oct. 27:
- The Flute Studio of Dr. Tim Lane, professor of music, will
present a recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts
Center. The recital will feature eighteen flute students performing various
solos and duets by Blavet, Handel, Bach, Telemann, Faure, Debussy and more.
Sunday, Nov. 2:
- The University String Orchestra will give a concert at 2
p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Paul Kosower, professor
of music, will conduct the group through pieces by Peter Warlock, Joseph Haydn,
and Felix Mendelssohn. Paula Kosower will be featured as a cello soloist on
the Haydn Concerto in D Major for Violoncello and Orchestra. She received
her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University and
is currently working on her doctorate at Northwestern University. Paula Kosower
has performed all over the world and is currently performing at various locations
in Chicago.
- The Wisconsin Woodwind Quintet will present a recital at
7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The recital
will feature Tim Lane, professor of music, on flute; Christa Garvey, assistant
professor of music, on oboe; Richard Fletcher, professor of music, on clarinet;
Kristine Fletcher, senior lecturer of music, on bassoon; and Andrew Parks,
associate lecturer of music, on horn. The ensemble will perform pieces by
Ferenc Farkas, Endre Szervansky, Leos Janacek and will include some Halloween
surprises. Senior Stacy Kern, North Saint Paul, Minn., will assist on bass
clarinet.
