UW-Eau Claire Foundation Names
New Chairman, Board Members

 MAILED:  Oct. 3, 2003

EAU CLAIRE — David G. Anderson was elected chairman of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Foundation board of directors at the board’s annual meeting today.

Anderson, a 1966 UW-Eau Claire graduate, is a partner in the Eau Claire law firm of Garvey, Anderson, Johnson, Geraci & Mirr. He succeeds Larry Weber, Durand, who had served as board chairman since October 2000. Weber, a 1968 UW-Eau Claire graduate and co-owner of Bauer Built Inc., will continue to serve on the board as past chair.

Anderson and the board will continue to provide leadership for the UW-Eau Claire Foundation’s ongoing comprehensive campaign, Fulfilling the Promise of Excellence. The campaign, which seeks $35 million in private support for UW-Eau Claire’s people and programs by July 2005, has raised more than $27 million in contributions and commitments so far, said Carole Halberg, UW-Eau Claire Foundation president.

“We are grateful to Larry Weber for his outstanding leadership during the first three years of our comprehensive campaign, and we couldn’t be more pleased that Dave Anderson has taken on the chairperson role as we continue this important effort for UW-Eau Claire,” Halberg said. “We also are thrilled to be working with the distinguished group of alumni and friends who make up our board of directors.”

Also elected as Foundation board officers were Dan Market, vice president; John Kell, secretary; and Jim Pinter, treasurer. Market is chief executive officer and president of Market & Johnson Inc., Eau Claire; Kell, a 1973 UW-Eau Claire graduate, is chief executive officer of Kell Container Corp., Chippewa Falls; and Pinter is director of customer service for Stienessen, Schlegel & Co., Eau Claire.
