EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire
music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances
the week beginning Monday, Oct. 6. All events are free and open to the public.
Monday, Oct. 6:
- Senior Amy Jean McFarlane, Menasha, will present a flute
recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of Haas Fine Arts Center. The program
will open with Sonate in E Minor by J. S. Bach and will continue with works
by Lili Boulanger, Marin Marais, Charles Koechlin, and Paul Taffanel. Senior
Matthew Steinbron, Eagan, Minn., will provide piano and harpsichord accompaniment,
while seniors Michelle Lynn DeGroot, Appleton, and Kelli Lynn Hanson, Duluth,
Minn., will assist on flute and bassoon.
Wednesday, Oct. 8:
- The UW-Eau Claire voice division will present a recital
featuring soprano voices in the voice division. The recital will begin at
5 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Fourteen UW-Eau
Claire students will be featured and two UW-Eau Claire alumni will be singing
as well. The students will perform repertoire from great operas such as “Don
Giovanni,” “Orfeo ed Euridice,” “Carmen,” “Candide,”
“La Boheme,” and many more.
Saturday, Oct. 11:
- The UW-Eau Claire Choral Ensembles will present two concerts
as part of the UW-Eau Claire Choral Festival. The UW-Eau Claire Choral Concert
featuring the Women’s Concert Chorale and The Singing Statesmen will
begin at 1:15 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The
UW-Eau Claire Choral Festival Concert, featuring the UW-Eau Claire Concert
Choir, Hudson High School Chamber Choir, outstanding soloists and the UW-Eau
Claire Honor Choir, will begin at 7 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall.
Sunday, Oct. 12:
- Les Favorites will present a recital at 4 p.m. in
Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The recital will feature
Tim Lane, professor of music, on flute; Ivar Lunde, Jr., professor emeritus,
on oboe; Nanette G. Lunde, professor emeritus, on harpsichord and Bradley
Johnson, lecturer, on baroque viola. Lucinda Marvin on baroque violin and
Laura Handler on baroque violoncello will be highlighted as guest artists.
The recital will open with Trio Sonata in A Major, Op. 3 No. 5 by Jacques
Hotteterre, continue with pieces composed by John Bull, Johan Gottlieb Goldberg
and Johann Christian Schickhardt, and close with Quintet in D Major, Op. 11
No. 6 for Flute, Oboe, Violin, Viola and Basso Continuo by Johann Christian
Bach.
