Acclaimed Guest Artist to Perform
Flute Recital at UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE —Dr. Susan Glaser, a visiting guest artist, will present a flute recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Glaser will open the recital with Paul Hindemith’s Sonata for Flute and Piano, followed by Beethoven’s Serenade for Flute and Piano, Op. 41. The program will continue with Romance pour Flute et Piano, Op. 37, by Camille Saint-Saëns and Preludes for Solo Piccolo by David Loeb. The recital will close with Béla Bartók’s “Suite Paysanne Hongroise.”

Beverly Soll, performing arts and special events coordinator for UW-Eau Claire, will provide piano accompaniment.

Glaser has performed to critical and audience acclaim in the United States, Japan, England, Switzerland, Scotland, Canada, Ireland and Mexico. She has recorded three solo compact discs and is known for championing new music, commissioning and premiering works from many composers such as George Tsontakis, Stella Sung, Ann LeBaron, Tristan Keuris, Amanda Harberg and Urs Leimgruber. Glaser also is the founder and current artistic director of the Azure Ensemble and currently serves on the faculties of Hofstra University and Teachers College, Columbia University. She holds a doctorate from the Julliard School of Music.

The recital is free and open to the public.
