Students from ‘Coalition of the Willing’ Nations
To Discuss U.S. Invasion of Iraq

 MAILED:  Sept. 26, 2003

EAU CLAIRE — University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students from several countries identified by President George Bush as supporters of the United States’ invasion of Iraq will participate in an International Roundtable discussion Oct. 1.

The roundtable session, “A Coalition of the Willing … Or Not So willing,” will begin at 4 p.m. Oct. 1 in the Presidents Room of Davies Center.

Since the United States invaded Iraq, President Bush’s Administration has repeatedly stated that the United States enjoys support from a “coalition of the willing” for its war effort.

During the roundtable discussion, seven students from six of these nations will talk about why they believe or don’t believe their home countries support the United States’ action in Iraq.

Student participants include: Intars Salenieks and Elina Spule, both of Latvia; Nikola Naumoski of Macedonia; Daniel Amzu of Romania; Marcin Kepa of Poland; Olga Kostina of Ukraine; and Can Ergen of Turkey.

Dr. Steven Majstorovic, assistant professor of political science at UW-Eau Claire, will serve as the faculty facilitator. Juna Miluka, a senior economics major from Eau Claire, will be the roundtable coordinator.

The event is sponsored by UW-Eau Claire’s Center for International Education.
