Tickets for the annual art trip to Chicago, organized by the art department at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, are now available at the University Service Center in Davies Center.

This year’s cultural adventure to the Windy City will leave Eau Claire at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, and return on Sunday, Oct. 26, with a stop at the Milwaukee Art Museum on the return trip.

Notable attractions in Chicago and Milwaukee include the following:

• Art Institute of Chicago — “Manet and the Sea”; “Paul Gauguin and the South Pacific”; sculptural installations by Dutch artist Mark Manders; photography of Lewis Carroll; “On Paper: New Acquisitions of American Art”; as well as the best Impressionist collection in the United States.
• Museum of Contemporary Art — “Strange Days” group exhibition and Kerry James Marshall, a major black artist in Chicago.
• Terra Museum of American Art — “Stieglitz, Duchamp and the New York Avant Garde”; “Studied Abroad,” American Impressionists in Europe; and George Bellows at Woodstock.
• Milwaukee Art Museum — The new Georgia O’Keeffe Gallery is now open. “Quilts at Gees Bend” (organized by the Whitney); young California painter Laura Owens; and John Currin’s “Works on Paper.”

And as always, Chicago has great food, music and theater to offer as well.

Tickets are only $150 and include three nights at the Cass Hotel in downtown Chicago (double rooms), round trip coach and group entry into the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art and the Milwaukee Art Museum. Tickets are available now until October 6. The trip is open to all students, faculty and the public.
