CUBEfest 2003 Offers
Traditional and New Events

 MAILED:  Aug. 22, 2003

EAU CLAIRE —CUBEfest 2003 will begin Thursday, Aug. 28, for all incoming freshmen at UW-Eau Claire. Events will begin with a picnic at 5:30 p.m. on the Campus Mall and conclude ten days later with entertainment at the Higherground.

“We want students to feel like this is home,” said Jodi Thesing-Ritter, assistant director for information management and student programs and activities, Housing and Residence Life. “This is an opportunity for students to meet new people and connect with their peers, as well as visit the campus and become familiar with available resources.”

Daytime events include small group meetings, campus tours, canoe rides, athletic tournaments and much more. Nighttime events range from campus films to dance parties.

Special featured events include the second annual Comedy Showcase, 7-11 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, in Zorn Arena, or the first annual Blow, Fly, Stick, 7-11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, in McPhee Physical Education Center. Blow, Fly, Stick will include access to the climbing wall, music, games, pool and prizes, but in order to qualify for prizes students must first pass a breathalyzer test.

“CUBEfest has received valued support to make these ten days a lot of fun,” said Thesing-Ritter.

CUBEfest is coordinated by UW-Eau Claire Housing and Residence Life with support from University Activities and Programs, University Activities Commission, University Recreation, New Student Orientation and Student Health Services.
