UW-Eau
Claire to Offer
Community Information Sessions
MAILED:
Aug. 6, 2003
EAU CLAIRE — Community members are invited to take
courses at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire again during the fall semester.
Two informational sessions will be offered in August
to help community members gather the information they need about opportunities
available to them at UW-Eau Claire. A special night also will be set aside to
allow community members to talk with university staff, select courses and enroll
for fall semester.
The following sessions are open to the community:
- Back-to-School Program
— This program is designed for community members who are interested
in taking a class or who already have enrolled for the fall semester but want
more information about all the campus resources available to them. It also
gives returning adult students a chance to meet other nontraditional age students
and university staff. Sessions will be offered from 9 to 11 a.m. or 6:30 to
8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21.
- Adult Passport Program
— Returning adult students who plan to take their first college math
and/or English composition class this fall are encouraged to attend this session.
Participants will take the math and/or English UW System Placement Test, which
will help ensure students get into the appropriate math or English composition
class. General information about university programs and opportunities also
will be shared. The session will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday,
Aug. 23.
- Community Registration Night
— Community members interested in taking classes this fall may attend
Community Registration Night. A list of open classes will be available, and
university staff will be on hand to help community members select and enroll
in courses for the fall semester. Business office staff will be available
to discuss payment options (a $100 down payment is required at the time of
registration), students can rent or buy textbooks, and the Parking and Transportation
Services office will sell parking permits. By the time a person walks out
the door, he or she will be ready to begin the fall semester. The session
will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, in Schofield Hall.
All three sessions are free, but participants must register
for the Back-to-School and Adult Passport Programs by calling the Adult Opportunity
office at (715) 836-3259. Anyone may attend Community Registration Night, and
preregistration is not necessary. Free parking will be available in all university
parking lots during all three sessions.
UW-Eau Claire’s fall semester classes start Tuesday,
Sept. 2.
For more information about the August programs or to talk about
opportunities available at UW-Eau Claire, call Rita Webb at (715) 836-3259.
