Program to Focus on Best-Practice Alcohol
And Other Drug Intervention Strategies

EAU CLAIRE - UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education/Extension will present "Out from Under the Influence," a two part program for social workers, behavioral health counselors, nurses, educators, clergy, human service professionals, correctional service workers and others confronted with substance use and abuse in their daily practice settings.

Accurately identifying and assessing the impact of drug issues are the first steps to best-practice intervention strategies. Vern Weeks, experienced clinical social worker and AODA counselor, has created a practical program to provide insights, strategies and techniques for substance abuse detection and intervention.

Part 1 will be held Sept. 23 at the Plaza Hotel and Suites in Eau Claire. Tuition is $125 and participants will receive .6 CEUs. Part 2 will meet at the UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education/Extension office at 210 Water Street, Eau Claire, Oct.17-18. Part 1 attendance is a pre-requisite for Part 2. Tuition for Parts 1 and 2 is $250 and participants will receive 1.4 CEUs. Graduate credit is also available for attending Parts 1 and 2. This program has been endorsed by the Wisconsin Certification Board.
