Story Idea
Despite a sluggish economy, UW-Eau
Claire alumni gave to the university's annual Telefund in record amounts this
year. The Telefund raised
a record-high of more than $482,600 for the 2002-03 fiscal year,
up from $423,000 the previous year. The Telefund drive has been held twice a
year for the past 23 years. Money raised through the drive is used by the UW-Eau
Claire Foundation to support student scholarships, student/faculty research
projects, faculty development initiatives, international study opportunities
and other special projects that enhance teaching and learning at the university.
All contributions count toward UW-Eau Claire's Fulfilling the Promise of Excellence
campaign, the university's first international fund-raising effort. The campaign
has raised more than $25 million of its $35 million goal. For details about
the Telefund's success, you can contact Heidi
Fisher, director of annual giving and
donor relations, at (715) 836-3819 or fisherhl@uwec.edu.
