EAU CLAIRE - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music
and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances
the week beginning Monday, May 5. All events are free and open to the public.
Thursday, May 8:
- Brehan Poliak, Prescott, will present a senior dance recital
at 7:30 p.m. in Kjer Theatre. Poliak will perform jazz, modern, tap, ballet,
hip-hop and lyrical pieces. The program will begin with "Unafraid"
by Paul Oaken, featuring Jan Johnston. This jazz piece, choreographed by Poliak,
includes 10 dancers. Poliak also choreographed a ballet piece to "This
Love" by Craig Armstrong, featuring Elizabeth Fraser; a hip-hop dance
to "You Don't Have to Call" by Usher; and a lyrical dance to "Free
Bird" by Arnold McCuller. Poliak also will perform a modern dance choreographed
by Dr. Toni Poll-Sorenson, professor of dance, to "The Soldier's Tale"
by Igor Stravinsky and a tap piece composed by junior Anna-Lisa Bjorklund,
Lindstrom, Minn., to "Action Speaks Louder Than Words" by Chocolate
Milk.
