Annual
Putnam Love Run/Walk
To be Held at UW-Eau Claire
MAILED:
April 25, 2003
EAU CLAIRE - Runners and walkers are invited to participate in the 19th annual
Putnam Love Run/Walk at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau
Claire.
Participants can take part in a competitive five-kilometer run on Putnam Drive
or a non-competitive two-mile walk through the Putnam Trail leading to upper campus.
The Putnam Hall Council is sponsoring this charitable event. Each year the Putnam
Hall council selects a different charity to receive the proceeds of the walk.
This year the beneficiary is the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of juvenile (type 1) diabetes
research worldwide. The foundation was founded in 1970 by the parents of children
with juvenile diabetes, a disease that strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin
dependent for life and carries the constant threat of devastating complications.
The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through
the support of research.
The registration fee for the Putnam Love Run is $15, which includes a t-shirt
and a chance to win prizes. Prizes will be given to the first three male and female
runners and the three people that raise the most money in donations.
For more information or to register prior to the race day, contact Evan
Trad, at tradem@uwec.edu. Participants may also register at 8 a.m. the day
of the race.
