Sixteen Students Awarded Scholarships
At UW-Eau Claire's Viennese Ball

EAU CLAIRE - Sixteen University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students were honored with scholarships or study awards at the university's Viennese Ball 2003.

Seven Viennese Ball International Scholarships were given out.

Four students received Wilhelm & Ingrid Brauner Awards. The award is in recognition of the services of the couple from the Austrian government who significantly contributed to the development of the Viennese Ball. Senior Lora Beebe, Superior, is a German major and the daughter of Chester and Catherine Beebe. Senior Sara Heitzinger, Stevens Point, is a German and political science major and the daughter of Ray and Cindy Heitzinger. Sophomore Craig Masters, Wilton, is a business administration and German major. He is the son of Donna Cosby and Joe Masters. Freshman Jessica Schiff, Superior, undecided major, is the daughter of Scott and Roma Myers.

Three foreign exchange students also received International Scholarships. Eva Fenninger, Thalgau, Austria, is a marketing major. She is the daughter of Alois and Brigitte Fenninger. Her host family is Elaine and Orville Bierman. Elisabeth Schober, Graz, Austria, is an anthropology major. She is the daughter of Ingeborg and Franz Josef Schober. Her host family is Jeff and Kathy White. Julia Stepan, Mattsee, Austria, is a marketing major. She is the daughter of Walter and Magdalena Stepan. Her host family is Ada and Adam Bors.

Seven students received Viennese Ball Senior Music Scholarships, awarded for talent, academic achievement and contributions to the department of music and theatre arts. John Brobst, St. Cloud, Minn., is a double bass music performance major and son of Delbert and Kathleen Brobst. Bryan Jaeckel, Waunakee, is a music education major and son of Janice S. Jaeckel. Janine Lamb, Ridgeland, is a music education major with a choral emphasis. She is the daughter of Gary and Susan Lamb. Andrei Strizek, Sun Prairie, is a music education major with an instrumental emphasis. He is the son of Mariette and Glenn Amundson along with Dan and Mary Strizek. Daniel Urness, Platteville, is a music education major and son of John and Ellen Urness. Jennifer Weber, Menomonie, is a choral major and daughter of Charles and Kathleen Weber.

Senior Matthew Steinbron, Eagan, Minn., received the Ada Bors Music Service Award. Steinbron is a music theory major and son of Sterlyng and Diane Steinbron. This award, named for the staff member who originated and coordinated the Viennese Ball for 25 years, recognizes outstanding service to the department of music and theatre arts.

Two students received W.R. Davies University Center Service Awards for the Viennese Ball, which recognizes outstanding service to Davies Center and past service to the Viennese Ball. Junior Tricia Moon, Lena, is a nursing major and daughter of Amy and Jim Graff and Thomas and Susan Moon. Senior Adam Nelson, Menomonie, is a history major and the son of James Nelson and Carla Erickson.
