UW-Eau Claire Concert Dance
To Present 'Danceworks 2003'

EAU CLAIRE - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Concert Dance Company will present its annual spring concert, "Danceworks 2003," at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, May 1-3, in Kjer Theatre on the UW-Eau Claire campus.

The Concert Dance Company, directed by Dr. Toni Poll-Sorensen, is celebrating its new home in the department of music and theatre arts with an evening of choreography by students, faculty and guest artists. Over 60 students from majors in nearly every department on campus have gathered together to present dances that showcase the traditions of ballet, tap, jazz, modern, and ethnic dance.

Thirteen pieces will be performed. The first half of the concert will feature "Unafraid," choreographed by senior Bre Poliak, Prescott; "Plaza of Execution," choreographed by senior Kate Brown, Waupaca; "Endangered Species," choreographed by junior Amber Anderson, Burnsville, Minn.; "Shafafa," choreographed by seniors Aly Hudock, Green Bay, and Alex Kluiber, Brookfield; "Ordinary Day," choreographed by senior Nicole Winter, Austin, Minn.; "A Pure White Room," choreographed by guest choreographer Kim Neal Nofsinger; and "Incognito," choreographed by seniors Libby Musson, Racine, and Lori Spahn, St. Paul, Minn. Following an intermission, the following dances will be performed: "Storm the Stage," choreographed by junior Anna-Lisa Bjorklund, Lindstrom, Minn.; "At Your Beckon Call," choreographed by Toni Poll-Sorensen; "All Wet," choreographed by junior Sara Looby, Maple Grove, Minn.; "Love Longing," choreographed by Brown; "Back to Earth," choreographed by seniors from Eau Claire Erin Kalla, and Carrie Norquist; and "You Don't Have to Call," choreographed by Poliak.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727, are $7 for the public and UW-Eau Claire faculty and staff, $4 for students with a university ID, and $3.50 for those age 62 and older and 17 and younger.
