EAU CLAIRE - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Office of Continuing Education will be offering two pharmacology classes in May as part of the program offerings for registered nurses and health care professionals. Both classes will be held 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 16, at the Holiday Inn Campus Area in Eau Claire.

• "What You really Need to Know Right Now: Psychopharmacology for the Advanced Practice Nurse in Primary Care" - Todd A. Johnson, assistant professor at the College of Pharmacy, University of Minnesota, will explain the fine art of managing psychoactive medications used for the treatment of common behavioral disorders, with an emphasis on atypical antipsychotics, antidepressants, antianxiety agents, mood stabilizers and off-label use of other medications prescribed for adults.
• "The Children's Pharmacy: A Clinical Update on Pediatric and Adolescent Drug Therapy" - Tom Nelson, the pharmacy clinical coordinator at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, will present information on the recent pharmacological advances for the treatment of childhood and adolescent behavioral conditions to health care providers working with kids and teens.

UW-Eau Claire, in cooperation with UW-Extension, awards Contact Hours or Continuing Education Units for these classes.
