Tony Brown to Perform
Free Concerts at UW-Eau Claire

 MAILED:  April 18, 2003

EAU CLAIRE - Tony Brown will perform three free concerts at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire April 24-26. His shows will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in The Cabin, Davies Center.

During the course of his musical career, Tony Brown has traveled in a multitude of musical circles. His inspiration originates from a family with a deep-rooted musical and cultural history in R&B, blues, jazz, soul, rock, folk and country music. By the 1960s Tony developed his abilities as a guitarist and began performing in Iowa, Minnesota and Illinois.

Seeing a 1973 performance by reggae artists Bob Marley and The Wailers set the course for Brown's future. His new musical inspiration culminated in a burst of music and recording projects, two of which were distributed nationally and internationally. To date, Brown has opened for 98 major recording and touring artists, including Peter Tosh, The Doors and John Prine.

The show is open to all ages. Pop, domestic and imported beer, wine coolers and popcorn will be sold; proof of age is required for alcohol purchases.

The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate.
