UW-Eau Claire's Jazz Ensemble III
To Perform Spring Concert April 24

EAU CLAIRE - Jazz Ensemble III at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The ensemble, conducted by Jeffery Crowell, assistant professor of music, will begin the concert with "Harlem Airshaft," composed by Duke Ellington and transcribed by David Berger. The concert will continue with "Bolivia," composed by Cedar Walton and arranged by David Metzger; "My One and Only Love," composed by Guy Wood and arranged by Mark Taylor, with words by Robert Melin; "Little Pumpkin" by Thad Jones; and "Ya gotta Try...Harder" by Sammy Nestico. Jazz Ensemble III also will perform "Dangerous Precedent" by Frank Mantooth; and "I Loves You Porgy," composed by George Gershwin, DuBose and Dorothy Heyward and Ira Gershwin, and arranged by Lisa DeSpain. The ensemble will conclude the concert with "The Best of Basie," composed by Count Basie and arranged by John Berry. "The Best of Basie" includes "Jumpin' at the Woodside," "Cute," "Shiny Stockings" and "April in Paris."

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or 1-800-949-UWEC, are $3.75 for the general public; $2.75 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and free for students with a university ID.
