EAU CLAIRE - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Health Care Administration student organization is holding its fourth annual banquet at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at the Park Inn and Suites, 3340 Mondovi Rd., Eau Claire.

The event, for current students, alumni and health care providers, is designed to stimulate thinking about the future of the health care field. Larry Minnix, the keynote speaker, will speak on "Lighting the Way: Developing Future Leadership for Long-term Care."

Minnix is president of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aged, a national association representing 5,600 mission-driven, not-for-profit nursing homes, continuing care retirement communities, assisted living and senior housing facilities and community service organizations.

The banquet cost is $25 for students, $50 for advocates and $75 for patrons. Tickets can be purchased at the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Office in 214 Schofield Hall.

In addition to the banquet, there also will be a breakfast forum panel, "Exploring Future Leadership Growth and Retention Strategies," from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 11, at the Park Inn and Suites. Key representatives from the Wisconsin Health Care Association and Wisconsin Association of Homes and Services for the Aging trade associations and the Center for Health and Aging Services Excellence advisory board will be discussing a new initiative to address the challenges of recruiting and retaining bright, young individuals into the health and aging services administration profession.

Sponsors of the event are the Heyde Companies, Lakeside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Grace Lutheran Foundation/American Lutheran Homes, Oakwood Villa/Cornell Care Center, Wipfli Ullrich Bertelson LLP, The Clairemont, Pathways Healthcare Consulting, Grandview Care Center, Dove Health Care, Orbovich & Gartner, and the chair for long-term care at the University of Minnesota.
