 MAILED:  April 2, 2003

EAU CLAIRE - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Concert Choir will present a concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 13, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.

The ensemble, conducted by Dr. Gary Schwartzhoff, director of choral activities, will begin the concert with "Rytmus" by Ivan Hrusovský. The Concert Choir will continue with two compositions by Dale Grotenhuis, "To You I Call" and "Song of Triumph," and "Witness," an African-American folk song arranged by Edwin Fissinger.

Schwartzhoff said the Concert Choir is preparing several major works for performance this semester. The ensemble also will perform the "Miserere mei, Deus" by Gregorio Allegri, "Hymn to Saint Cecilia" by Benjamin Britten and "Liebeslieder Walzer, Op. 52" by Johannes Brahms.

"Each of these works are unique and will offer to our audience several masterworks in our spring concert," said Schwartzhoff.

Concert Choir is one of seven choral ensembles at "Wisconsin's Singing University." The ensemble has performed at state, divisional and national conventions of the American Choral Directors Association, the state convention of the Wisconsin Music Educators Association and the Music Educators National Conference. The Concert Choir will present a spring tour April 14 and 15 in the Minneapolis area.

Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or 1-800-949-UWEC, are $4.75 for the general public; $3.75 for those 62 and older, children 17 and younger and faculty and staff with a university ID; and $1.25 for students with a university ID.
