MAILED:
March 27, 2003
EAU CLAIRE - The 24th Annual Science Institute, offered by the University of Wisconsin-Eau
Claire Continuing Education for students age 12-16, will be held June 15-27.
The program provides opportunities for exceptional students to spend two weeks
intensively exploring a science or science-related topic. Students from the Midwest
and throughout the nation come to the UW-Eau Claire campus to learn about discoveries
in specific fields of science, explore methods of investigation, use techniques
and instruments in laboratory and field, and apply the knowledge to life situations.
Participants interact with students with similar interests as well as specialists
in the science field.
Courses for the 2003 institute include computer architecture/Linux, geology, astronomy,
action electronics, aquatic biology, 'SIM Man' physiology, environmental science,
veterinary medicine and physics. After class activities such as bowling, swimming,
crafts, concerts, excursions and cultural events will be offered as part of the
Institute experience.
The registration deadline is May 16. The combined class and residential fee for
students staying in dormitories is $950; day students may pay $475 for class only.
The early bird registration date has been extended. Register by May 1 and get
$50 off the registration fee.
