EAU CLAIRE - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and
theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the
week beginning Monday, March 31. All events are free and open to the public.
Monday, March 31:
- Jacqueline Cobian, River Falls, will present a senior degree
recital at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The senior comprehensive music major will begin the performance with "Cara,
cara e dolce" by Scarlatti. The performance also will include an excerpt
from the "Kaffee Cantata" by J.S. Bach; "Va Godendo" by
Handel; "Flames" by Tom Cipullo; and "I Concentrate on You"
by Cole Porter.
Wednesday, April 2:
- Ivar Lunde, professor of music, on oboe and baroque oboe,
and Nanette Lunde, professor of music, on harpsichord, will present a joint
faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts
Center. The performance will begin with Sonata II for Oboe and Basso Continuo
by André Cheron. The performance also will include "Alla Gitana
for Oboe and Piano" by Paul Dukas, "Burlesque for Oboe and Piano"
by Jean Absil and "Piéces de Clavecin" by Francois Couperin.
Guest artist Beverly Soll will accompany the faculty members.
Thursday, April 3:
- Daniel Marrs, Andover, Minn., will present a senior
percussion recital at 5 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts
Center. The senior comprehensive music major will begin the performance with
"Recital Duo" by Dan Knipple. Marrs will continue with "Trilogy"
by Tim Huesgen, "Footprints" by Wayne Shorter and "Concertino
for Marimba" by Neil DePonte. Marrs will be assisted by Dr. Jeff Crowell,
assistant professor of music, on percussion; senior Sarah Schmidt, Alma Center,
on piano; sophomore Jeremy Boettcher, Eau Claire, on bass; and sophomore Yukiko
Fujimura, Kanagawa, Japan, on piano.
Sunday, April 6:
- Dr. Robert Knight, associate professor of music, will present
a faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts
Center. Knight, a baritone, will present "Walt Whitman: Poetry and Song,"
along with reciter Dr. Scott Oates, assistant professor of English; soprano
alumnae Sara Paar and Karen Wridt; and pianist Barbara Young, lecturer of
music and theatre arts. The recital will begin with "Walt Whitman"
by Charles Ives. The performance also will include "Joy, Shipmate, Joy"
by Ralph Vaughan Williams, "Look Down, Fair Moon" by Ned Rorem and
"To The Soul" by Charles Villiers Stanford.
