Honoring Education Pow Wow
Set for April 5 at UW-Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE - All drums, dancers and vendors are invited to participate in the Honoring Education Traditional Pow Wow being held Saturday, April 5, in the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Zorn Arena. The Pow Wow is traditionally the closing event during Native American Awareness Week at UW-Eau Claire, to be celebrated this year March 31-April 5.

Grand entries will take place at 1 and 7 p.m. in Zorn Arena, and there will be a feast at 5 p.m. Bruce Sonnenberg, of the St. Croix Anishinaabe, will be the master of ceremonies.

Pipestone will be the host drum and Ahsiniis Larson will be arena director. The head dancers will be Dr. Richard St. Germaine, UW-Eau Claire professor of history, Becky St. Germaine, Edison Redday and Dr. Linda Gourneau, visiting minority scholar.

Invited drums include Hay-lush-ka, Lac Courte Oreilles Badgers and Cumberland.

The admission price is $3, which includes the feast, and tickets are sold at the door. Admission is free for children age five and younger and seniors age 60 and older.
